1. Scope
1.1
This Standard applies to portable electric tools intended for use in nonhazardous locations in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. It applies to tools having a voltage rating not exceeding 250 V.
1.2
This Standard applies to:
hand tools, such as drills, screwdrivers, nut runners, tappers, hammers, impact wrenches, saws, sanders, polishers, buffers, shears, nibblers, grinders, staplers, valve seat grinders and lappers, cylinder borers, and concrete vibrators.
1.3
This Standard applies to transportable tools such as:
diamond core drills, drain cleaners, magnetic drill presses, and pipe benders.
1.4
Requirements for cord-connected double-insulated tools are specified in Clause 7.
1.5
This Standard does not apply to (a) electric bench tools covered in CSA Standard C22.2 No. 71.2; or (b) motor-operated gardening appliances covered in CSA Standard C22.2 No. 147.
